What are Cataracts?

A cataract occurs when the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy. As this happens, vision steadily declines and becomes impaired.

If you have cataracts, they usually develop slowly and gradually over time. They may affect one or both eyes. As the natural lens in your eye becomes cloudy, it obstructs the passage of light, making it more challenging to see things clearly.

What Are the Most Common Cataract Symptoms?

If you have a cataract, you may notice signs like:

Blurry vision
Increased light sensitivity
Glare and halos that make it more challenging to be in well-lit environments
Finding it more challenging to drive at night
More frequent prescription changes to your glasses or contact lenses
Noticing colors appear faded or yellowed or are less vibrant than they once were
Double vision in only one eye
Increasingly impaired vision
Injuring yourself more often

Advanced IOL Options

At Georgia Eye Physicians and Surgeons, we offer a variety of premium IOLs that may allow eligible patients to experience greater visual freedom after cataract surgery. While some patients who don’t desire greater independence from visual aids will choose a standard monofocal IOL, premium IOLs offer many benefits for those who want to reduce their dependence on visual aids after cataract surgery.

Light Adjustable Lens

The revolutionary Light Adjustable Lens allows your eye doctor to customize your vision correction after cataract surgery, ensuring that you achieve the sharpest, clearest sight possible. No other IOL allows you to test drive your vision after cataract surgery before locking in your vision. Whether you require correction for distance vision, intermediate vision, or near vision, the Light Adjustable Lens can be adjusted to optimize your vision for your daily activities.

ReSTOR

The ReSTOR multifocal IOL provides a full range of vision, reducing your dependence on visual aids. It works by using unique technology to focus light at multiple distances simultaneously.

Clareon Vivity

The Vivity IOL offers a unique monofocal-quality distance with excellent intermediate
and functional near vision, resulting in improved visual acuity at various distances.

Alcon PanOptix

The PanOptix IOL is a trifocal IOL designed to provide clear vision at near, intermediate, and far distances and reduce the need for glasses or contact lenses after surgery. This lens is also available in a toric option for patients with astigmatism.

Cost & Financing

Cataract surgery is a life-changing procedure that restores your vision by removing the clouded lens in your eye. While traditional cataract surgery is generally covered by insurance, allowing you to regain clarity of sight, the choice of intraocular lens (IOL) plays a crucial role in your post-surgery vision quality.

If you choose a premium IOL at Georgia Eye Physicians and Surgeons in Duluth, you will be responsible for the additional cost associated with the lens itself and any related surgical adjustments. This investment in your vision can provide significant long-term benefits, reducing or even eliminating the need for glasses or contacts after surgery.

To make this choice more accessible, we offer flexible financing options like CareCredit to help manage the cost of premium IOLs. These options allow you to start your vision-enhancing procedure right away and pay over time, making it easier to fit the expense into your budget.
