All the Things We Do At Georgia Eye

The eyes are easy to take for granted, and most people don’t even like to think about going to an eye doctor until they start to have problems.  Even those who do require some form of vision correction, like eyeglasses or contact lenses, only tend to come in when they realize that their prescription needs to be updated.  But routine vision exams and contact lens fittings are really only a small part of the work we do at Georgia Eye Physicians and Surgeons.  Board certified ophthalmologist Dr. William Segal and Comprehensive Consultative Optometrist Dr. Marc Lay actually provide a variety of other services that are vital to maintaining your vision and eye health.

All the Things We Do At Georgia EyeMonitoring Changing Eye Conditions

A routine vision exam is more than sufficient to determine the precise lens prescription needed to correct common refraction errors like nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia), and astigmatism, but more serious vision problems often require more thorough diagnostic methods.  Many of the leading causes of vision loss develop slowly, and can become quite serious before their symptoms are noticeable, which is why the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) recommends that all men and women undergo more thorough comprehensive medical eye examinations to check for cataracts, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and other eye conditions.  Diagnosing these conditions early often makes it possible to treat them more effectively, before they can permanently affect your vison.

Surgery to Correct Serious Vision Problems

Most people know that LASIK eye surgery can improve vision clarity and, in many cases, permanently reduce or even eliminate the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses.  However, Dr. Segal also regularly performs a variety of other surgical eye procedures, like intraocular lens replacement to remove cataracts, SLT Lumenis® to correct symptoms of glaucoma, or the surgical placement of tear plugs to counteract chronic dry eye.  Georgia Eye employs some of the most advanced techniques and technology available, such as the computer-assisted LenSx® laser, and was even chosen to be the only practice in Georgia to participate in a year-long research study testing the effectiveness of a revolutionary new glaucoma treatment.  Please contact Georgia Eye Physicians and Surgeons if you are interested in being a part of this study.

Basic Eye Care and Maintenance

Eyeglasses and contact lenses are precision medical devices, and just like any other piece of specialized equipment they require regular care and maintenance to keep them working at their best.  Georgia Eye’s on-site optical center not only provides a wide selection of corrective eye solutions to suit your personality and visual needs, but also carries a full complement of protective cases, cleansing wipes, and disinfecting solutions to keep lenses clear and germ-free.  We can even repair broken frames and replace scratched or damaged prescription lenses.  Currently we are offering 50% off a second pair of glasses (buy one pair and get a second pair half off) until July 5th, 2017.
