TREATED IN DULUTH, GA (NORTH OF ATLANTA) at Georgia Eye Physicians & Surgeons
Flashes are bursts of light or streaks that can sporadically appear in your field of vision that is caused by the vitreous (clear, gel-like fluid between the retina and the lens) applying pressure to the retina. With age, the vitreous loses the gel-like consistency and liquefies causing the retina to pull away from the eye wall causing extra light sensitivity that results in flashes. These flashes may decrease over time as the vitreous separates from the retina; however, persistent flashes may be a sign of a more threatening condition and should be examined immediately.
