Marc Lay, O.D., M.S, is a Lawrenceville native who graduated first in his class while completing his Doctor of Optometry and concomitant masters in vision sciences at the State University of New York College of Optometry in 2010. Dr. Lay continued on to complete his residency in 2011 at the Salisbury Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina, specializing in advanced low vision and ocular disease management. Prior to his residency, Dr. Lay had the privilege of traveling to Lima, Peru with the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (SVOSH) organization which provides eye care to low-income families in the Caribbean, Central and South America. Dr. Lay completed internships at the West Haven VA and at Brooklyn Community hospital before moving on to additional internship work at the SUNY College of Optometry. There he continued his specialization in ocular disease and vision therapy services with a concentration on the management and treatment of various anterior and posterior segment eye diseases with conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration.
In addition, Dr. Lay is affiliated with University of Alabama as a clinical faculty member who provides instruction to future optometric interns. At Georgia Eye Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Lay specializes in the fitting of therapeutic contact lenses for the management of keratoconus and other corneal disorders that result from trauma, infection and corneal degenerations.
