TREATED IN DULUTH, GA (NORTH OF ATLANTA) at Georgia Eye Physicians & Surgeons
This is a serious eye condition that occurs when vitreous fluid (clear, gel-like fluid between the retina and the lens) applies too much pressure to the retina causing it to lift from the eye wall and tear or completely separate from the wall that may be associated with an eye injury or simply associated with a new floater. A torn or detached retina can be corrected with laser surgery or a freezing treatment that re-adheres the retina to the eye wall. In severe cases, the use of an intraocular gas bubble may be needed.
